We are pleased to announce the launch of “Voices of MWEG,” a blog featuring the work of individual members of Mormon Women for Ethical Government. You can find it at www.womenmakingpeace.org. Empowering women and highlighting their unique voices is an important part of our mission, and this new space will amplify voices you might not otherwise hear. It is already filled with wise and thoughtful words written by the women of MWEG.
Our membership is ideologically, experientially, and politically diverse, which is a source of our strength. However, our organization is committed to being nonpartisan. As such, we recognize the need to clearly distinguish between the opinions of individuals we hope to empower and the official positions of the organization. This new blog will help us do so. The blog will not be used to communicate official positions, but rather the opinions of the authors. All MWEG official statements can be found on our website, as well as links to op-eds and pieces written by members of our current leadership team that reflect our position as an organization.
While MWEG’s founders are no longer leading the organization, they will continue to speak out as individuals about issues and candidates they support. We encourage all our members to peacefully advocate using the written word. However, only pieces posted on our website will reflect MWEG’s official position.
At MWEG, our voices are many and distinct. We don’t always agree with one another, but we will always fight to protect every citizen’s right to express their sincere and well-informed views. As an organization, we will never endorse specific candidates, but we will always work to ensure every citizen’s constitutional right to vote. We invite all responsible citizens to join us!
